What is different about the Obagi system for fighting acne is that Obagi acne fighting skin care products fight the acne with benzoil peroxide but they also treat the skin as well by stimulating it to produce more collagen and elastin. Collagen and elastin are essential to healthy normal functioning skin that is better able to function as the bodies natural barrier to bacteria attack. 
Obagi skin care products are chemically formulated to penetrate beyond the skins surface to the substrate where the actual causes of the skins surface problems are located. Surface skin problems such as acne, dryness and wrinkles are in fact only symptoms of cellular dysfunctions that exist in the skins lower skin layers, so treating skin problems on the surface only addresses the symptoms rather then the causes of the skin problems.
